Location

Segulah meets at different locations in the Shepherd Park, DC/Silver Spring, MD neighborhood.  The location where we will be meeting is included with every listing on our schedule of upcoming events on the right side of this page.

Our most frequent location for services is in the Tifereth Israel building at 7701 16th St NW, Washington DC.  The entrance is on Juniper Street, on the east side of 16th Street.  Sometimes we are in the chapel, on the ground floor, and sometimes we are in the library, one floor down.

Our neighborhood is accessible by a variety of different transportation options.

Getting to Segulah

By foot:  The Shepherd Park/Downtown Silver Spring area is very walkable. Many people in our community live within a 20-30 minute walk of the Tifereth Israel building, and some come all the way from neighborhoods such as Columbia Heights, Mount Pleasant, and Dupont Circle.

By car:  Parking is available in the area around Tifereth Israel and our other meeting locations.  Please note that when we meet on weekdays for holidays and other special events there are rush hour parking restrictions on 16th Street.  Please abide by all signed parking regulations and do not block our neighbors’ driveways or fire hydrants.

By public transportation:  The Metrorail Red Line, several Metrobus routes, and Montgomery County Ride On all stop within walking distance of our usual meeting locations in the Shepherd Park/Downtown Silver Spring neighborhood.  The Metrobus route that stops closest to Tifereth Israel is the S4, which operates between Silver Spring Station, Franklin Square, and Federal Triangle via the length of 16th Street (the stop at Tifereth Israel is on 16th Street at Juniper Street).  For more information about Metrorail and Metrobus, please visit www.wmata.com.  For more information about Ride On, please visit www.rideonbus.com.

(For information about the Purple Line, one of the inspirations for the name Segulah, please visit www.purplelinemd.com.  The Purple Line is currently scheduled to open in 2022 and will run between Bethesda and New Carrollton via Silver Spring, Langley Park, and College Park.  The future route for this line can be seen on our neighborhood map.)

The Jewish community of Shepherd Park & Silver Spring is growing and diversifying as well. The area is home to multiple synagogues, havurot, and Jewish organizations, and is well-situated among the constellation of Jewish institutions of the greater Washington, DC region.

The following is a list of links to some of the other synagogues, havurot, and organizations in our neighborhood. Those with physical locations are also shown on the map at the bottom of the page:
