Shavuot

NOTE: Information about Shavuot 5780 will be posted to this website, Segulah’s Facebook page, and Segulah’s listserv in the spring of 2020.  The information below is provided for reference. 


In 5779, Segulah will celebrate Shavuot by participating in the community tikkun leil Shavuot with Tifereth Israel, Ohev Sholom, Fabrengen, and Shirat HaNefesh, and sunrise services.  Segulah will also held a “tikkun yom Shavuot” including a potluck picnic lunch and Mincha at Eastern Village Cohousing on Shavuot afternoon.

Here is the schedule for 5779 (Saturday, June 9-Sunday, June 10, 2019):

Community Tikkun: Segulah joins other neighborhood communities for all-night Torah study at the Upper 16th Street Tikkun Leil Shavuot.
Location: Tifereth Israel (7701 16th Street, NW) and Ohev Sholom (1600 Jonquil Street, NW)

    • 10:45 PM: Joint Tikkun begins at Tifereth Israel
    • 2:05 AM: Joint Tikkun moves to Ohev Sholom

4:55 AM: Sunrise Service in the TI Chapel (7701 16th Street, NW)

Tikkun Yom Shavuot at Eastern Village Cohousing (7981 Eastern Avenue) on the roof (or on the 1st floor if there is inclement weather)
2:30 PM: Picnic lunch. The picnic will not be a formal potluck: bring food (and feel free to share, or not), and BRING YOUR OWN DISHES AND UTENSILS.
3:30 PM: Learning Session #1
4:15 PM: Learning Session #2
5:00 PM: Mincha (One-page handouts (all-Hebrew in a small font) will be provided, but BRING YOUR OWN SIDDUR if you want something different.)
